The Technical Writer plays a crucial role in creating clear, concise, and accurate documentation for various internal and external audiences. This position involves understanding complex technical information related to our products, systems, and processes, and transforming it into user-friendly guides, manuals, and knowledge base articles. The Technical Writer collaborates with subject matter experts across the organization to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all documentation, ultimately enhancing user understanding and satisfaction.
Job duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a variety of technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, API documentation, troubleshooting guides, and internal knowledge base articles.
- Collaborate with product development, engineering, and support teams to gather information and understand technical concepts.
- Translate complex technical details into clear, concise, and easy-to-understand language for diverse audiences.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines across all documentation.
- Edit and proofread documentation for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting errors.
- Organize and structure information logically to facilitate user navigation and comprehension.
- Incorporate visuals, such as diagrams, screenshots, and illustrations, to enhance understanding.
- Manage the documentation lifecycle, including planning, writing, reviewing, and updating content.
- Utilize documentation tools and software to create, manage, and publish documentation.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of documentation standards and processes.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest product features, technologies, and industry trends.
- Gather and analyze user feedback to identify areas for documentation improvement.
- Potentially assist with the creation of training materials and other related content.
Qualification:
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Proven experience (typically 2+ years) as a Technical Writer, preferably in a technology-driven environment.
- Familiarity with the gaming industry and its products is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Required Job Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of the English language. Bilingual English/Spanish speaking and writing skills preferred.
- Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency in using documentation tools and software (e.g., Confluence, Jira, MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Ability to follow established style guides and maintain consistency in writing.
- Basic understanding of information architecture and user experience principles.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to meet project deadlines.
